HEATHER MCWILLIAMS, Facilitator of The
Colorado Corral Online-
The Evergreen area has been home to me since 1972. Horse crazy, but horse-less until I was 22, I found plenty around this community to feed, brush, ride, clean up after, etc. I started riding English, but rode Western too when it would get me in to a couple more classes at the local open shows. Then on to jumping, "fox" hunting, initial training, dressage, reining, etc. As of late, I have been training for and doing some showing in Versatility Ranch Horse and Eventing.
I have a B.S. in Equine Science from C.S.U. and have held positions in several branches of the equine industry, including: equine veterinary medicine; training; equine insurance; farm management; and breeding management. My work experience ranges from starting Thoroughbreds for flat racing for the Sheik's of Dubai to farming and ranching in South Dakota. I spent fifteen years in the equine veterinary medicine field assisting vets, managing clinics and designing a clinic.
At present, my main interests lie in training to improve my own horses and broadening my knowledge of equine medicine. My immediate family is made up of Andrew and Asher. We have three American Quarter Horse mares. Two are from the ranch I worked on in South Dakota (a 4 and 14 year old). The other is a 2003 model we bred ourselves. We also have 2 pups, a kitty and numerous fishes. I have a local Concierge and Errand Service (
www.mountainareaconcierge.com) and assist my husband in real estate as well,
www.andrewmcwilliams.com. Keeping a young horse or two for sale satisfys my desire to train and make solid, versatile riding horses for buyers - see the website at
www.heathershorses.com.
A scientist at heart and a student of all things horse, I am always reading, observing, listening and experimenting to make and do things better and more efficiently. As with any pursuit for knowledge in an area, the more you learn, the more you realize there is to know. Horses always have something new to teach us.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Heather
